Nordic Nursery

Once upon a time, in a college not too far away, was a young entrepreneur helping her cousins design the perfect nursery for their incoming baby boy. The cousins had recently purchased a lakefront home and were working hard to get everything in order in time for the arrival of their third family member. Soon, the nordic nursery retreat fell into place and all was ready. On October 15th, the designer was busy celebrating her birthday when her phone buzzed... "your birthday buddy :)" Welcome to the world, Truett Thomas Troxel!

Design often brings with it an invitation into people's worlds for pivotal times of life. Transitioning to a new home, making space for a family member, or finding the balance of out with the old and in with the new. Being involved in Truett's nursery design was one of my favorite projects ever! We wanted to play off the Scandinavian roots of the rest of the house, while giving a fun, childlike flair.

We created whimsy with Scandi Scallop decals and a teepee bookshelf from Wayfair.

Ikea was our go-to for Scandinavian pieces like the Eket Storage Combo paired with Smarra woven baskets.

We also used Ikea for the changing table, crib, nightstand, and cloud lights (which you'll see later).

And finally, my favorite part. Truett mostly goes by "True"—a reminder to hold fast to truth in a world that does not. Above his crib is this beautiful sign quoting Philippians 4:8.

Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

And that's a wrap folks! The nordic nursery. I've got a few projects going right now and it's looking like an exciting new year. I keep more regular (but not too regular :)) updates on the socials, so feel free to follow along there! I'm planning to stick with this intermittent posting routine for a while and aiming to get some posts up to document some finished projects that haven't made it on here yet.
